Colin Jones

Byron Bay born and when the town had a heart. Started at elder brother's instigation playing in the local brass band after some years at the hands of the local nuns learning the piano properly albeit with a ruler hovering over little fingers when an error was made. Moved to Grafton and after High School moved to Sydney and studied at the Conservatorium of Music.

Did first pro gig touring with Tommy Steele. After that, Winifred Atwell and then playing night clubs and strip joints when there were plenty of jobs and the entertainment scene was more than just duos with sequencers.

Spent nine years with Qantas as a flight steward before settling in London for fifteen years playing gigs in the Home Counties. The London scene was just too hard and clicky to break in to. Ended up back in Grafton and thence the Gold Coast where I owned and ran a Jazz restaurant- The Swinging Vine- in partnership with my then partner Victoria.

Since that closed in 1988 have been freelancing as a musician around the Gold Coast and Brisbane and have been presenting on 94.1FM since 1995 although at times it doesn't sound like that.
